Context
Biesse Design Lab introduces emerging designers to different materials and advanced manufacturing technologies. The 2026 pilot includes 10 students and emerging designers selected from relevant university departments in Istanbul. Participants develop products combining at least two materials from wood, glass, stone, metal and advanced engineering materials.
Scope of work
Karaca Erdem leads the program's academic coordination. The assignment includes structuring the learning sequence and project framework, connecting research and specialist contributions with product development, and reviewing participants' work.

- Research into users, context of use and the design problem.
- Development of a reasoned design proposal and product direction.
